Great Lakes Guide Service is a fishing charter service based in Muskegon, MI. I would like to start by saying I did not design this site. It was designed by Matt Collins, a St Louis based web designer, (who did a great job!!!) but I was recently contracted to add a bunch of content and go through and do on page optimization throughout the site.

Great Lakes Guide Service is a all year round fishing charter service based in Muskegon, MI owned and operated by Captain Kyle Buck who is a longtime friend of mine. They offer Steelhead, Salmon, Walleye, trout and Perch fishing trips, year round on all of the major rivers as well as on Lake Michigan. I took an in depth look at where the site was ranking on search strings before we started this project, and made sure that we where filling the gaps.

I really like taking on jobs like this. Truth is Kyle's site was ranking pretty well on a good amount of the search strings that they need to be successfull. To look at the big picture and see where you can make an impact is in a lot of ways like solving a puzzle. It's both challenging and fun.

I basically went through every page on the site, identified the appropriate search strings to go after for this industry and made sure there was a page to address each set of terms. There where a handfull of pages that had sparse content which where really easy to add too, and others that just needed some tweaks to meta-data and content. We will be able to see in the next few weeks where we really improved, and adjust accordingly. As we all know SEO is an on going process. Link building comes next!!!
